The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) is a financial assistance program that offers temporary financial assistance for pregnant women and households with one or more dependent children. TANF benefits also provide financial assistance to help cover additional expenses. These expenses may include food, shelter, utility bills, and other costs other than medical costs.

To be eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, an individual must either be pregnant or have a child under the age of 19 that resides in the same household. EarnFare is a financial assistance program designed to provide adults that currently receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. This program offers individuals a chance to obtain valuable work experience and receive cash assistance so that they eventually operate within standard means of self-sufficiency. The individual’s local court system arranges EarnFare allowance and benefits.

Additionally, Non-Custodial Parent (NCP) EarnFare is a financial assistance program designed for jobless parents who don’t have custody of the kids when their kids receive benefits through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. This program provides parents with a chance to obtain work experience while also fulfilling their child support responsibilities.

Participants in the EarnFare program undergo an initial orientation and a complete evaluation to determine service requirements. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program delivers benefits through a digital debit card that most grocery stores accept. The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the United States Department of Agriculture oversees SNAP. Local government agencies may also have additional oversight.

The Family Assistance (FA) financial assistance program provides emergency cash assistance to qualified needy families that have a small child living in the household or with a caretaking relative. The Family Assistance program functions under the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.

Under Family Assistance, qualified adults may only receive emergency cash benefits for a total of 60 months. At that time, members of their Family Assistance program are ineligible to receive any additional benefits.

Additionally, there are further requirements for Family Assistance eligibility. Every individual who applies for or receives Family Assistance must work with local and state government agencies related to social services and human services to find an absent parent and receive child support payments, as well as any other items or property. Not cooperating with support services and public health officials without good cause could result to lower Family Assistance benefits.

Safety Net Assistance  for Emergency Cash for Families
